ABOUT THE AREA
Tore lies at the entrance to the Black Isle, five miles north of Inverness on the A9. The village is unceremoniously split by a large five-way roundabout, but community spirit thrives undaunted, held firmly together by a popular primary school, numerous farms and several interesting new ventures to tempt visitors to stop at Tore on their way to the north, the west, or the Black Isle.
Tore Art Gallery can also be reached from North Kessock via the shore road to Redcastle, a very scenic route well worth the minor detour from the A9.
Not far south of Tore you can take a tour of the Black Isle Brewery , where a range of distinctive organic beers is produced.
Just past Tore on the Fortrose road is Ryefield Farm Shop , the place to stop for a mouth-watering selection of fresh vegetables and soft fruit in season, grown on the spot. There is also Pick Your Own, and the shop sells venison, wild boar, dairy products and free-range eggs as well.
If you are travelling on to Beauly, stop at the Corner on the Square , a delicatessen with an impressive stock of high-quality cheeses, unusual cold meats, fine affordable wines and a lot else, as well as (another) coffee shop serving excellent lunches (or it might be time for tea and cakes by now!)
