ABOUT US

Gallery Owners

We are Ian and Clare Blois (sometimes mis-spelt Claire Blois), and we are the owners of Tore Art Gallery.

Clare is an award-winning artist herself and this website also serves as the place to see her work, which is also regularly exhibited in other Scottish galleries as well at Tore Art Gallery. Please click on Clare's pages on the main menu for details of her work.

Our Gallery

Our huge church building gives us the space and opportunity to house both contemporary and more traditional styles of original art together under one roof. The space can be divided in various ways, providing the visitor with an exciting journey of discovery, variety and contrast. We defy anyone to leave without finding something that has interested them, and hopefully intrigued and inspired them too.

The artists we choose to exhibit all produce work that speaks for itself and communicates to the viewer directly. Avoiding pretension and the meaningless and mystifying hype often associated with contemporary art does not mean compromising on quality and innovation or being stuck in a traditionalist rut. Good art is genuine, honest and made with skill, sincerity, talent and passion. It is usually the result of many years of hard work and learning (whether in a formal setting or not). At Tore we can confidently say that no inadequately-dressed Emperors get through our door.

There is a wealth of creative talent in Scotland, and many of our artists are of course from the Highlands, but we set ourselves no boundaries. Throughout the year there are exhibitions of featured artists, or themed exhibitions, alongside a changing mixed show. We also run other events at the Gallery too, such as concerts - the Bechstein grand piano is in great working order and we welcome players.

Please contact us if you would like to join our mailing list and be informed of Exhibition Openings and other events.

Our Customers

We extend a warm welcome to everyone from art-connoisseurs to passing holidaymakers with families (we have toys, childrens' books and Brio train set to keep them quiet!). Please come and browse. We are easy to find (see the Location page) and we have plenty of parking, and disabled access.

From Easter we are open every day except Tuesdays and Sundays. From June to mid-September we are also open on Sunday afternoons
