Bella Green

Since 1997 Bella has lived and worked in Eskdalemuir, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, where she has made her home and studio. After many years of teaching and painting she now devotes all of her time to painting.

Bella was born and brought up in Glasgow. After school, she followed her family south and did a two year Foundation Course at Harrow School of Art. She has exhibited her work in many prestigious venues across Scotland and beyond, and is a keen supporter of Dumfriesshire’s “Spring Fling”.
She has been a professional elected member of the Scottish Society of Artists and Craftsmen, now Visual Arts Scotland (VAS), since 1992.

“My paintings evolve from imagination inspired by seeing. I observe views through windows and doorways, looking at tabletop vistas, people, places and the effects of light. Inner inspirations come from fragments of memory, associations and contemplation.
My main expressive elements are colour and composition. I love their emotive power to communicate all shades of feeling. I aim to make colours alive, to make them sing by emphasizing pure chromatic values or by creating harmonies of more muted tones.”
