ISABELL DICKSON is the main artist of our current Christmas Exhibition. As well as the paintings shown heer, we also have some unframed mounted originals available.

Isabell is an oil painter based in Inverness who has become well-known for her strong and vigourous approach to the highland landscape in oil paint. After spending her early years in the Borders, she moved to the Highlands where she continues to live and work.

Her inspiration comes from the land and seas in the North of Scotland with their ever-changing moods and colours. She is particularly drawn to the coastline with the rugged cliffs and crashing waves or endless white beaches and turquoise seas.

“My paintings are very rarely of a particular place. Instead I want to convey the feeling of peace and solitude, dramatic skies and endless horizons; the things that linger in the memory long after you have seen them. I paint mainly in oils because they give me the texture, depth of colour and excitement I want."

Isabell works outdoors whenever and wherever possible. Her paintings are a response to the land and seascape around her, using bold strokes and deep colour to capture the gradeur of the Highlands with authoritative simplicity.

Isabell has also enjoyed the challenge of painting with a different palette in other parts of Britain as well as Spain, France and Mexico.
