Kathleen Lindsley
Wood Engraver
At present we have a good selection of Kathleen's woodcuts in the gallery.
Kathleen was born in Gibraltar in 1951 and studied fine art at Newcastle Upon Tyne. She was introduced to wood engraving by Leo Wyatt in 1974, has been resident in Scotland since 1976 and full time in Skye since 1987.
The detail and delicacy of these evocative engravings is truly incredible and we are delighted to be able to always show a good selection of Kathleen's work at Tore Art Gallery. She says:
"I employ the medium of wood engraving, a relief printing process, to interpret and record the area in which I live. The blocks are usually end-grain boxwood, sometimes pearwood. I edition my work on fine papers using an Albion hand press. Sometimes I work to commission in illustration and design. I undertake bookplates, letterheads and house portraits."
