Lewis Banks
The images here represent some of Lewis's work - more variations are to be found in the gallery.
Lewis Banks is a designer and maker of enamel artworks. His work ranges from jewellery to large three-dimensional sculptural pieces. Based on the Firth of Forth in the coastal village of Aberdour, much of Lewis’s work is inspired by nature and the sea.
The pieces are created by multiple sequential firings of transparent and opaque glass enamels on copper resulting in striking “colour textures”.
As well as his enamel fish in various forms, Lewis makes enamel Tide Clocks. These are useful working pieces which come with full instructions on how to use the clock to predict the times of high and low tide.
“I am fascinated by how the organic world can be represented and recreated in these inorganic materials”.
Lewis is happy to accept commissions.
