Linda Smith

Linda was raised in Bathgate, West Lothian. After school she embarked on a nursing career and worked throughout Scotland in a variety of departments. After settling in Elgin and following further study in Aberdeen, Linda qualified as a Health Visitor.

However it was a series of night classes which rekindled Linda’s interest in drawing and painting and in 2006 she gained a BA in Fine Art at Moray School of Art. She has also attended painting courses at Edinburgh College of Art and Leith School of Art and has exhibited in the major Scottish cities.

Her influences are varied; she has been inspired by an exploration of her family history, by cinematography and gothic tales and by her travels to the most remote parts of Northern Europe. Her work in oils is often dark and can have a surreal quality.

Linda works from the Blue Door artists studios in Nairn.
