Dave JOHNSON

Dave Johnson – landscape and art photographer, talks about his work as follows:

"I have a particular interest in my local surroundings of the Black Isle but also like to roam further afield throughout the Highlands, always looking out for images to capture.

Most people at sometime or another use a camera to record their experiences, and photography is also an established art form. A traditional painter is presented with a blank canvas and decides what elements of his surroundings to add to it. In contrast, the photographer’s “canvas” is filled to the brim already, and he must decide what to leave out.

The balance is crucial. What should be excluded to help convey the moment set out in front of the camera? This is what I strive to achieve with my photography – balance of the image.

Each image is a moment in time, captured and translated. Each moment never to be repeated again in nature and time…"
