Susan DOBSON

Susan Dobson is a painter and printmaker living in Northumberland, a keen hillwalker and frequent visitor to the Highlands. Her striking and atmospheric images draw us into moor and mountain landscape evoking our memories of ever-changing weather and light, and familiar sense of place.

The mountains and fells inspire Susan's work, and it is important to her to spend as much time as she can there. The drawings and colour studies she makes reflect the immediacy of her experience. They record her responses both to structural and textural detail and to transient, atmospheric qualities.

Susan's work captures the fugitive effects of weather and light on wild mountain landscapes - revealing and concealing edges and boundaries.

"Wilderness challenges complacency and the otherness of the mountain world sharpens the vision"
